Instagram on Thursday announced that its IGTV video platform will now support landscape videos in addition to vertical.
In an official blog post, the company said:
"Ultimately, our vision is to make IGTV a destination for great content no matter how it’s shot so creators can express themselves how they want".
Instagram launched IGTV as a standalone app last year, but it can also be accessed from the main Instagram app. It only supported vertical (portrait mode) videos thus far, and the latest decision is being seen as a nod to the fact that most people prefer to watch longer videos in landscape mode.
